Guest Refunds and Host Payments
Q - When is a Guest or Hosts entitled to Refund / Payment?
A - Southern Staying is not an accommodation provider, but a platform that allows hosts to advertise their property and connect with guests.
We ask hosts to confirm that they comply with the laws that apply to them before they list their property on our platform.
The “terms of service” published on southernstaying.co.za include provisions that require hosts to warrant that a listing they post for, or a guest’s stay at, an accommodation “will (i) not breach any agreements you have entered into with any third parties, such as a homeowners’ association, condominium, or other agreements, and (ii) comply with all applicable laws (such as zoning laws), tax requirements, and other rules and regulations (including having all required permits, licences and registrations)”.
Once a booking is accepted by Southern Staying with the consent of the Accommodation Host / Owner the agreement is between the Guest and Host. Both parties are required to comply with the conditions of the booking.
In order to protect the rights of the Guest, Southern Staying may not out of it’s own free will pay the booking income to the owner before the [check-out date] stay has been completed. This provides additional security to Guests and prevent scams. The Host knows he will not be paid if a Guest arrives at an empty property. Whenever a Host requests the full amount of the booking income, or a portion of it, Southern Staying will transfer the funds after the check-out date [usually with 7 days]. Any request for prior transfer of funds will only be done with the consent of the Guest. There is no exception to this rule.
Similarly, no Guest deposit will be refunded without a positive accommodation inspection clearance after the day of departure [check-out] and then usually within 7 days.
